From January 1st, 1999 the range of Statistical Office in Łódź is area of Łódzkie Voivodship.

According to statutes realizes the following tasks:

• coordinate works concerning such demands as: realization of the programme of surveys (the basic source of acquiring information), formation of voivodships' data asemblage, conduction of inquiry-publishing activity and other tasks for national statistics,
• perform basic tasks in the field of data gaining and data processing, attendance of clients as well as, units of national economy (enterprises, partnership etc.), self-government and government administration.

These tasks are realized by particular divisions and centres of SO according to competences defined in Regulations of SO.

Branches of SO in Brzeziny, Piotrków Trybunalski and Sieradz realize statewide tasks for the benefit of public statistics, all basic tasks, of which: attendance of clients and units as well as reporting in accordance with the rules of conducted surveys (units are currently informed about these rules, i.a. assigning the place for providing reports).
